The weekend was packed from start to finish. Here’s a recap of some of the highlights.
关于 165 alumni donors 和 friends gathered in Wickham Great Hall on Thursday night for the inaugural 捐款者联欢晚会. The high-energy event honored the alumni 和 friends whose major donations have sustained Heidelberg over the years 和 into the future.
Friday kicked off with the annual Medallion Club luncheon, which honors 和 recognizes alumni who are celebrating (or have 庆祝d) their 50th class reunion. The traditional Classes With Quizzes this year took alumni back to the classroom for some enlightening 和 entertaining classes. This year’s presenters were Larry Kisabeth ’74, Dr. Mark Peeples ’74 和 Beth Long-Higgins ’84.
Partners in the construction of the new Student Athletic, 学术, 和 Recreation Center gathered at the site of Heidelberg’s newest facility to 正式破土动工 对于这个项目. 校园社区, 包括Siggy, was well-represented at the event that also drew a large contingent of principal donors 和 alumni, 当地的, state 和 national representatives, construction 和 financial partners 和 neighbors.
The sizzling heat forced the Friday night Happy Hour 和 Dinner on the Lawn indoors, but spirits were just as high as alumni reconnected with classmates 和 made new friends.
Saturday began with a newer tradition, Coffee 和 Conversation with President Rob Huntington 和 members of Heidelberg’s Strategic 领导 Team. There was a Reunion Sing-Along for those who performed in one of Heidelberg’s choral ensembles or who just enjoy singing. 这群人复习了一遍 甜蜜的母校 和 The Lord Bless You 和 Keep You, which they performed during the 澳门银河网站 Luncheon. The traditional Parade of Classes was as lively as ever as alumni marched with their class banner on Greenfield Street to Seiberling Gymnasium for the 澳门银河网站 Luncheon. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal followed by remarks from President Hungtington about the challenges facing higher education 和 Heidelberg. He also gave updates on the Fieldhouse project, 澳门银河网站的捐赠基金, 招生, successful 和 new initiatives to recruit 和 retain students, 澳门银河网站参与, 和 a sincere message of gratitude to alumni who help sustain HU.
Highlighting the luncheon was the presentation of this year's 澳门银河网站奖. This year’s winners were Larry Dunham ’80, the 澳门银河网站 of Distinction Award; Bill Kinley ’64, the Outst和ing 澳门银河网站 Award; 和 the Kubuske Family, 遗产家庭奖.
Larry Kisabeth 和 Karen Bowdler Alt, representing the golden anniversary class of 1974, presented Rob with a check for $7.458,202 – the collective total in gifts 和 pledges to Heidelberg from the l和mark reunion classes of 1964, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1999年和2014年.
“That should help,” Larry told Rob, who responded, “Yes, it does!”
